COVID-19 Solidarity Fund for the WHO: WHF partners with the UN Foundation and Swiss Philanthropy Foundation

COVID-19 Solidarity Fund for the WHO: WHF partners with the UN Foundation and Swiss Philanthropy Foundation

As part of our mission to bring people, organizations, companies and sectors together, we are very pleased to share that the World Humanitarian Forum is joining forces the United Nations Foundation, the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation and the World Health Organization (WHO) to support the fight against COVID-19.

We have watched as the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has already impacted communities everywhere, taking a toll on lives, health systems and economies. We know you, like we here at WHF, are eager to help fight the pandemic. That is why we have partnered with the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization (WHO), powered by the United Nations Foundation and Swiss Philanthropy Foundation. Donations to this fund go to support the WHO’s and partner’s efforts to prevent, detect, and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic around the world.

Commenting on our combined effort,  Elizabeth Cousens, President and CEO of the United Nations Foundation, highlighted its importance.

“We are all affected by the growing COVID-19 pandemic. It’s an unprecedented health challenge and we know people and organizations everywhere want to help. That is why we have created the new COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, at the request of the World Health Organization and powered in partnership by the United Nations Foundation and the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation. The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund will give individuals, companies, and philanthropies alike the ability to directly support the World Health Organization’s and partners’ efforts to track and understand the spread of the virus; to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers to get essential supplies and information; and to accelerate efforts to develop vaccines, tests, and treatments.”

We ask you - our readers, our partners, our sponsors -  to come together and help us. Donations can be made directly online at www.covid19responsefund.org or via check or wire transfer to either the United Nations Foundation or Swiss Philanthropy Foundation.

"It is with a profound sense of duty and responsibility that the World Humanitarian Forum is joining forces with the UN Foundation, the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation and the World Health Organization in this global call for action to mobilize our community to contribute to the COVID-19 Solidarity Fund. In times of great adversity, there is a decisive need to take action, to engage, to collaborate for a common goal. The need for resources, for ideas, for problem-solving may enable a time of unparalleled cross-sector cooperation that can give the global community the push it needs to realize its potential and drive real, lasting change and shape the future for a better tomorrow." Feraye Ozfescioglu, CEO of WHF

WHF lends its voice to the call for solidarity. As WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreysus said, “We are all in this together. We all have a role to play. Facts not fear. Reason not rumors. Solidarity not stigma.”

Visit the fund’s Frequently Asked Questions to learn more about which donation mechanism may be right for you.

We value your partnership and know that by taking collective action together, we can all play a role in protecting communities around the world.

Be kind, be safe and our greatest thank you.
